Hi Henry-Taggart,
I thought the phrases and saying in 'norn iron' accent brilliant. I recall years ago someone did similar with a 'Tyneside Geordie accent' and they published a book.....have you ever thought of doing the same in 'norn iron' you could have jokes, tales and handy hints...with the odd photo of the area alongside......cheers Katy
there are books available, written by a cartoonist from the belfast telegraph called rowel friers, and another ex telegraph journalist billy simpson both very funny men. rowel friers was also a talented artist, if you google both names it will bring up some of their stuff

thanks paul , by the way we where talking a few nights ago but i was signed as murphman he is a friend of mine i was fixing his comp , we where discussing jimmy green (r.i.p) and iveagh good luck paul
Very good , but interestingly did you notice how his own accent wasnt "norn iron" and had a hint of whats called mid atlantic speak , pity his every day accent wasnt norn iron instead of north down hockey field speak ! i wonder where he learnt "norn iron " certainly wasnt in the area he grew up in ,either that or he has done a great job of ridding himself of his birth accent , such a pretty well spoken young ulsterman makes me almost humble to think someone from his background would take the trouble to tell the world how to communicate with us lower orders here in the six
as he points out the northern accent is a cross between english and scots (BUTCHERED HIDEOUSLY)his words not mine i hope the vanwylder manages to shake of his "heritage" accent it might improve his job chances at interviews with his betters

No offence taken mcneely , his own accent (though he takes trouble to hide it) is a belfast accent , east belfast if im correct , but he is part of a growning band of people who believe that the accent should be drummed out as probably his parents drummed it out of him to bring him in to line with his colonial masters , i know a guy just like him even looks like him , when on a break in ballyshannon co donegal 5 yrs ago i caught him speaking to some locals with the worst false american accent you ever heard he begged me not to show the video i took back home in the club lol , would i ? well ulster has 9 counties 6 are called the north one is called donegal its is the furtherst north but it is in the south so figure that lol
