I left norniron in 1958 as a 10 year old, but still find nornirish words & expressions floating about in my speech.
Sometimes words I thought were family words turn out to be nornirish, e.g. "pruk", as in ,I guess ,treasure trove, or booty,"poke", as in an icecream cone,(not recommended for usage in other parts of the world,as it has radically different connotations elsewhere !),"I'll wet a pot of tea", "red up"-as in tidy up, and many more. I'm interested in any others people have to offer, Regards, Coral

OMG...never knew "red up" was norniron! My maternal grandmother (and as far as I know she's not got a drop of Irish blood in her) used to say that all the time ... as in "you girls go red up the dishes now" after every damn meal ... all of which involved a minimum of 15 people being served!
