Eric has written a number of the most powerful songs of our time: The Band Played Waltzing Matilda, Green Fields of France, Leaving Nancy, and so on. This one may outlast all of them, though:

My favorite is a song called "As if he knew " about the horses of the light horse that were left in egypt after WW1. I cry every time I play it.

That'll serve me right for not paying attention more closely - I adore Eric, saw him in concert in 2003, he was absolutely fantastic.

I do love As If He Knows, but also If Wishes Were Fishes, and One Small Star, he does a brilliant version of Stan Rogers' Lock-Keeper too, which of course leads us on to the song he wrote about Stan, Safe in The Harbour.

The comedy records are brilliant too. Santa Bloody Claus and Nobody's Moggy Now are wee comic masterpieces.
