tonigh i was bowled over by an interview on our local news with the normally camera shy peter haine , haine is the british appointed direct ruler of our little part of the sod ,now you would expect that he was about to make a monumental announcement about the future of politics in norn iron but youd be wrong , he thinks that its about time people in northern ireland should apoligise for the african slave trade , he admits thats bristol and liverpool became rich from the trade but belfast should apoligise ! , this was followed up with an interview with professor eamon phoenix a leading irish historian of the period who shows that not only was belfast not involved in this trade but took the lead in the anti slavery movement , he retells a meeting held in belfast where a leading businessman called a meeting of other business men to try to form a syndicate to compete in the trade , thomas mccabe local jeweller stood up at the meeting and called on god to wither the hand of anyman who signed this document , by the end of the meeting ambrose was booed from the stage , he also pointed out that belfast back then was a liberal town utterly opposed to the trade ,
now we have to suffer this english halfwit asking us to to apologise for something our forefathers fought against , now i might be wrong but i think that if peter haine is britains representitive in ireland then maybe he should apologise on behalf of the british goverment who only 4 generations ago allowed 2 million plus irish people to starve to death on this island , and maybe the same for the murder of 14 civil rights marchers in derry , and while he s at it also for the 200 plus murders of nationalists murder by loyalist gangs run and supplied by his goverment

If they're going back to slavery times, maybe the Brits could apologize for the thousands of Irish shipped off to the West Indies as slaves during Cromwell's "To Hell or Connaught" campaign.

On September 11, 1649, Oliver Cromwell and his 20,000-man army invaded Ireland. They killed the entire garrison of Drogheda and slaughtered all the townspeople. Afterwards, Cromwell said, "I do not think 30 of their whole number escaped with their lives. Those that did are in safe custody in the Barbados. "Under Cromwell's policy, known as "To Hell or Connaught," Irish landowners were driven off millions of acres of fertile land. Those found east of the river Shannon after May 1, 1654, faced the death penalty or slavery in the West Indies.

Cromwell's son, Henry, carried on and encouraged the sale of Irish into slavery for years afterward.

honestly I am just learning your politics. in the USA I am a Democrat. I am fishing into my dads history and beating up on neocons a lot.

a neocon is a Bushie, as you call it. that site is where we really traah them! We fight a lot on there.
it is showing up on google a lot. I am getting hits on hines history there too, yes, I must be a whatever you just said.

count me in for the battle. neocons trash everything and Iraq. They are religious based, so I don't like them at A bunch of fanantics. But a lot of what I write on there is not serious, we are just jerking them around. You should join there on a trial and really spout off! all.

Hesitate to stir this pot, but ... I think you should probably change the "migrants" to "illegal immigrants".
