the following was related to me, so it is second hand information but for what it is worth, here it is....
an irish-americn told me, he was in ireland last week and went into, not one, not two, but three pubs and was denied a drink in each place, whether or not, the 'no bushy served here" was uttered in each of the three places is not known, however, the underlining reason seems to stem from some, "anti" personal sentiments of individual publicans in a public accomodation toward whatever and whomever.
It is well reported that there is a great deal of anti-bush sentioment in ireland, so the, 'no bushy served here" may not be too far fetched.
In the past, I have heard, refusal to serve travellers, etc. brought down the wrath of the government on the erring publicans and put euros in the pockets of the victims.
My question is very narrow in scope and that is; what is the name and address of the irish government agency that can best deal with such complaints from across the pond.
I have only just joined this group today in hopes of learning more about modern day Irish politics and I have been intrigued by the 'spake norn-iron' lessons...I dunno what 'norn-iron' is really...might anyone be willing to 'enlighten' me? Please forgive my ignorance, as I am belatedly learning of all these wonders of my beloved Eire!
I promise should I ever visit the mother country- to hold a 'grand feast' for ye one and all fit for Irish Nobility...with plenty of 'taytos' for everyone of us!!
and if we find ourselves in the 'grace and favor of our Lord' perhaps our 'bushy's' will be shaved and saved from further humiliation!
God Bless and be with you!
Respectfully yours,
McNeely
p.s. please do be forgiving me for my tasteless humor about varied and in sundry 'bushes' *lmao* I couldn't resist the temptation of me own pervy mind!
had I ever been denied a drink at any pub for being a 'bushy' I daresay I might've laughed outright and hailed me ancestral kin and countryfolk well met despite the denial of me pint...I might've asked again for a jigger of whiskey and sung an invented limerick or lament on the spot!
Now really going-forgive my verbosity as well-I promise I shan't post again unless I have something meaningful and valuable to contribute to these discussions
May ye all be blessed whatever ur beliefs may be and know that I am humbled for the opportunity to learn and make your acquaintances!
Thanks to ye all as well Boggers *passes silver platter o' herbed taytos* to ye...and *tip o' me hat* to ye Melian, *taytos for all*!! Thank you, Thank you all for the warm welcome-looking forward to learning with ye and from ye!
God bless,
Doesn't matter, no Tayto, too bad! (we are an equal oportunity club). Tomorrows food is dilisk.
hate to burst a bubble tricia , but the tayto crisp company has had legal action taken against for discrimination against anyone who puts irish in as the nationality in an employment form ! also they where boycotted here a few yrs ago for supply food and drink to loyalist gangs who where holding the garvachy road area under siege , the claim they are based in a castle , wells thats true but my garden is as old as this modern castle funny thing is that when they are trying to seel to americans they call this place ireland when at home they are proud british ulster stock and not a fenian in the place
I know this is an old discussion but I read it and wanted to comment. It is well known that America and Bush are well hated around the world. I can understand this and I often joke with friends...when did people stop trying to assassinate the president. I know I shouldn't joke..never know when someone will knock at my door over my words. I know that is a joke but many people hear hate who and what he's done. I fear the worst is yet to come.
As for the no bushy...my opinion is that any business owner has the right to serve whomever they choose.
