in co armagh last week a sales rep told 2 customers that they where a british store and would not stock anything irish after the customers asked if they had the new dubliners tribute c.d , the rep stated as it was irish and we are british and the fact that noone had ever heard of the dubliners then it wouldnt be in stock ! (in norn iron speak what this means is , we dont want any catholic or irish person as a customer) , here is the text of of the irishnews story "No Irish please – we’re Woolworths,, heres the text and link to that story
p.s the sales person is still employed by woolworths so i can take it that woolworths doesnt want any irish or catholics as customers .
An Armagh couple have spoken of their disgust after being told by staff at a well-known chain store that it would “not sell anything Irish.

Civil servant Ciaran Girvan was shopping with his wife in Armagh yesterday when they called into Woolworths to buy a new RTE tribute DVD about The Dubliners.

However, a female shop assistant told the couple that the store did not and would not stock the DVD because it’s Irish.

She also told them Woolworths was a British store that did not sell anything Irish.

We had seen the DVD advertised and that it was to be out on Friday, Mr Girvan said.

We were just so taken aback from the shop assistant’s attitude, I went back in again and was told the same thing.

She said ‘We are British-based so we won’t be stocking that’. I pointed out all the American CDs and DVDs in the store but she just shrugged.

“She even told us that The Dubliners weren’t very famous so why would they stock a DVD about them.”

A spokeswoman for Woolworth’s apologised to Mr Girvan and his wife.

“We apologise for the experience Mr Girvin had in our Armagh store today,” she said.

“He was given a false piece of information from a member of staff which the store manager has been made aware of and appropriate training will be given to all store staff as a result.”
