This was the music section of the Ireland Calls discussion boards and had folders on all types of music from pop, classical, rock, world, acoustic, Irish ... all were welcome in this forum. Members discussed their favourite artists, singers, bands and everything from baroc to bluegrass!
Many people listed their favourite 10 Desert Island Discs and what a selection that proved to be! Eva Cassidy, Dolly Parton, Dusty Springfield, John Denver, Frank Sinatra, Barbara Streisand, Billy Joel, The Saw Doctors, Pink Floyd, Kenny Rogers and Louis Armstrong were only a few of the numerous artists who featured in this section.
There were also discussions on learning how to play Irish music on various instruments such as tin whistle, fiddle, bodhrán and other instruments. A list of what was regarded as the best in Irish musician sites included Tommy Peoples, Altan, Gerry O'Connor, Lunasa, Martin Hayes, The Chieftains, The Dubliners, Chris Newman and Máire Ni Cathasaigh.
The list of popular Irish songs must have been in the hundreds but some of the all-time favourites listed were: The Green Glens of Antrim, When Irish Eyes Are Smiling, Will Ye Go Lassie Go, Grace, The Gypsy Rover, Danny Boy, Red Is The Rose, Whiskey In The Jar, Kilkelly Ireland, The Parting Glass, Big Strong Man, The Patriot Game and The 12 Days Of Christmas.
